Integrated Healthcare Network
Leveraging technology to cure the headache of healthcare administration
This proof of concept explores seamless data exchange between patients, healthcare providers and payers (claims) designed for a the Department of Health of a Middle Eastern country (Name under NDA). The aim was to redesign key instances from the perspective of the healthcare provider (doctor), focusing on the claim filing and management processes.

background
In the UAE, doctors are required to maintain patient records and submit them to insurance companies. This administrative burden often overwhelms healthcare providers, pushing them to focus on paperwork management along with patient care.
background
The healthcare platform aims to-
Ease the flow of information between the patients, healthcare providers and payers
Streamline the process of maintaining patient records
I started the design process by understanding the dependencies of the key stakeholders.
The current focus area was to enhance the experience of the provider through the integrated platform.

opportunity identification
Given the short timeline of the project, conducting in depth interviews with doctors across borders was not feasible. Hence, we resorted to healthcare consultants and experts who work within the system and understand its shortcomings thoroughly. This helped us craft our user personas and their journey.
healthcare provider's persona

understanding their everyday tasks
I took charge of mapping the key tasks performed by a provider everyday to identify pain points which can be eased out by introducing electronic and automated mechanisms.

Streamlining management for the provider
After assessing the provider’s journey we narrowed our focus on easing documentation required for claims filing and maintaining patient records as reduced time spent on managerial task would automatically give them more bandwidth to perform their core duties better and take care of their personal lives.

design proposal
I worked on producing some key screens of the proposed digital experience to highlight key features like quick access to critical information via the dashboard, ease of generating E-prescription and automated record keeping, to give the clients a glimpse of what the entire experience could look like.
Key Learnings
Working in an Agile Environment
Working towards a strict submission date and managing this proposal in addition to the assigned projects required us to adopt an agile format of working with clearly outlined deliverables for each meeting and rapidly iterating and testing the prototypes within the team and with experts.
Cross-border Teamwork and Collaboration
The project manager and subject matter experts were from different parts of the world, including the USA and Saudi Arabia. Hence, collaborating efficiently required us to work meet as per common timings, align assigned tasks per Gantt charts and adhere to deadlines, Thus, I learnt how to seek inputs of the team and work collaboratively while taking full responsibility of my tasks.
Nuances of developing a "Proof of Concept"
I learnt how differently a proof of concept and competition entry works from a regular client project. I also contributed to building estimates for quoting prices as per the number of hours of UX effort and approximately calculating the total number of pages in the final prototype.
